A 3 minute arrangement with leftovers from Elmwood's class in the littlest room down at the end of the house. For the moment I've lost interest in doing big, dramatic things. I've been wolfing down queen anne's lace that grows 6 foot tall in empty lots all over Greenpoint and I'm really wanting to do nothing but arrange with wild grass. Florists in the city are all getting excited that ranunculus are back at the market but pftt! Where can i get more ruffly cosmos here? I'm really feeling summer, and wanting summer things. Peach juice is running down my arms daily. We are in the thick of it.
Can I row boats in central park? Have a drink on the roof of the met? Picnic at the cloisters? Swim at Fort Tilden? Eat more hot dogs? Make more pies? Get tickets for Shakespeare in the Park? Ruin more perfectly good pants by cutting them into short shorts?
I'm excited to enjoy what we have left of summer. Do the same and report back.

Amy this is beautiful :) And I cannot get enough of peaches this summer. I've eaten at least 5 today.
ReplyDeletePure poetry!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I wish my room looked like yours. It looks so peaceful. Oh and if you want to eat more pies, I suggest you go to Magnolia bakery and by chocolate pudding pie, and the banana pudding pie omg those pies are so good amazing....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the curtains flowing in the breeze. I have so much cosmos in my garden - so easy to grow here. Incredible images. :)
ReplyDeleteAgree with Caitlin above -- poetry!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of getting curtains with ball fringe and now I don't feel so crazy.

I've been so enjoying your pictures of Elmwood! They speak to me of simple beauty, the touch of romance that age brings to an old family home, the sweet scenes of white curtains and wildflowers...so perfectly lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying the lazy days of summer here: sleeping in, swimming in the pond, puttering around in my gardens. I too love the wild flowers and plant them where ever I can along the edges of the yard: Queen-anne's-lace, chicory, milkweed, black-eyed susans...are just a few of the things blooming right now. They make wonderful, untamed, arrangements : )
So enjoy reading your posts and glad to know another fellow wildflower lover like myself!
I'm moving to New York in a little less than two weeks, so I think I'll be borrowing some of those ideas. I love the way you combine your writing with your photos.
